Salisbury Police Community Safety Officers were again out and about supplying and fitting free purse security chains today, following the success of a similar event recently in the Old George Mall, this time; they were at the City’s Waitrose Store.
Claire Rooney, Crime Prevention Officer, said: “Following a number of purse thefts from trolleys this week, management at Waitrose kindly allowed us to attend the store at short notice to give away the purse chains to shoppers” said Kate Phipps, Community Safety Manager, “the event was yet again a big success. We were able to fit just under 400 chains and give advice to people to stop them being a target of thieves.
“We would like to thank Waitrose, the Salisbury Journal and SpireFM for the coverage they have given this project, and it is hoped with sponsorship that we can run more events in the area in the future”.
